Diversity Committee to Host Social Justice Forum at The Institute: Virtual 2021 On Thursday, March 4, 2021, NABL’s Diversity Committee will host a forum, Social Justice—Stories from the Past, Lessons for the Future , featuring Mayor Stephen K. Benjamin, Columbia, SC (pictured). Mayor Benjamin will share personal and professional stories related to bias, bigotry, or microaggression, with ideas on how to make progress and offer potential solutions. Mayor Benjamin is also a public finance lawyer, providing a unique perspective to help elevate this discussion for NABL’s entire membership and beyond. New Tax Law Community on NABL Connect NABL is excited to launch a new Tax Law community on NABL Connect, a private members-only (excluding Federal regulators) online discussion forum. NABL members can join this new community and login to stay informed about new developments in Federal tax law related to municipal bonds, share tax resources, and discuss new regulations and interpretations of existing regulations and Code sections. This new community is intended to facilitate dialogue among members, but it is not intended to supplant the need to consult with competent tax attorneys regarding particular situations. NABL Released Appendix to The Crafting Disclosure Polices Paper NABL released an update to the Crafting Disclosure Polices Paper , a paper NABL originally released in 2015. The purpose of the updated Section 5.3 is to provide NABL members with tools to advise issuers and obligated persons of municipal securities in developing written disclosure policies and procedures in response to the 2019 amendments that added two new listed events to Rule 15c2-12. Section 5.3 is intended to be read in connection with Appendix B of Crafting Disclosure Policies . The paper was released by NABL’s Securities Law and Disclosure Committee and a working group co-chaired by Michael Botelho, (Updike, Kelly, Spellacy, P.C., Hartford, CT) and Sarah Smith (McCarter & English, LLP, Boston, MA).
